So you’ve built your blog (If you haven’t… You may want to read my last entries on how to start a website for your blog in 2025. Now comes the tricky part: Getting actual traffic (Visits on your website). Because, let’s be real, having a blog nobody visits is like hosting a party where nobody shows up. .
Let’s go step by step and break down how to drive traffic. I’ll be using some examples on how we would do it at Doo Digital, so you can get a better idea. You know it! We don’t gate-keep so I’ll explain every word we as marketers love to throw around but nobody explains.
Step 1: SEO – How Google Will Find You
SEO = Search Engine Optimization. This means setting up and optimizing your blog on a weekly basis will ensure that Google knows what your content is about and can show it to people searching, you optimize your website and Blog Posts by editing fields in your CMS like: Title, Meta Titles, Snippets, Slug, Short Descriptions, Categories etc.
Key terms, you must know:
- Slug: The last part of your blog in the URL.
Example: in doodigital.agency/how-to-drive-traffic, the slug is how-to-drive-traffic. You edit this in WordPress, for example, under the Yoast SEO > Slug field. - Snippet: The preview Google shows, includes your SEO title, slug, and meta description. You edit this in Yoast SEO > Search Appearance.
Key recommendations:
- Add keywords like (Say you’re a web and branding agency like us) “website in marketing” or “best creative agency” into your titles and content naturally.
- Keep your slugs short and clear.
- Write meta descriptions that actually make people want to click.
A Doo Digital Example: If we write a blog called “Best Logo Design Company Sites in 2025”, our slug would be best-logo-design-company-sites-2025 and our meta description would say: “Looking for the best sites for logo design? Here’s our breakdown of the top logo design companies in 2025.”
Step 2: Social Media is Your Megaphone
Posting a blog is step one. Sharing it everywhere is step two. This will ensure that your brand stays consistent by interconnecting platforms (Your website and your socials) And of course, will provide a lot more visibility. Make sure you use the proper formats for all social media, for ex you can paste a short part of the blog with the link to it, LinkedIn can contain a thought about this blog, Instagram can be a story with a screenshot of your blog and the link to it and finally TikTok could contain a short conversation like message about the blog and the link to it in your comments.
Key terms, you must know:
- Snippet (Social): This is what shows when you share a blog link on Instagram or LinkedIn. You control this in Yoast under Social > Facebook & Twitter previews.
Key recommendations:
- Instagram → Use short visuals, stories or even leverage a good reel with educational information.
- LinkedIn → Use a more serious, professional voice (like you’re running one of the best marketing company websites, if your blog is an agency for example).
- TikTok → Use quick hacks and teasers in your message, pointing back to your blog.
A Doo Digital Example: If we publish a blog about “Best logo creation sites”, we’d cut a 30-second Reel showing a before/after of a logo we redesigned, then drop the blog link in bio.
Step 3: Email Marketing (VIP Access)
Email is like your private channel to readers, so you can take advantage of people subscribing to your lists to share key information that they will find useful or will lead them to ask more or engage with your brand. Remember! Avoid unnecessary emails, these can be mistaken by spam and will lead to people unsubscribing or simply ignoring your emails.
Key terms, you must know:
- List: The collection of people who signed up to hear from you.
- CTA (Call To Action): A button or link telling people what to do next (“Subscribe here,” “Download now”).
Key recommendations:
Most CMS (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix) let you add an email signup form through plugins or built-in blocks.
- Collect emails with a freebie (like a checklist, guides, e-books, etc).
- Send weekly updates with value (Again, not just “New post live!”).
A Doo Digital Example: We’d send out a short newsletter called “Traffic Tuesday” with one blog tip, plus a link to our blog on “best logo design websites.”
Step 4: Guest Blogging – Traffic Hacking 101
What is Guest blogging = Writing a blog post for another website in your industry. They publish it, link back to you, and voilà… New readers + SEO boost.
Where to edit:
You’ll still write in your CMS (WordPress, Webflow, etc.), but when pitching to another site, you usually submit your article via Google Docs or Word and they will use their blog to post your thoughts.
Key recommendations:
- If you are a web and branding agency, for example, target top creative agencies or brand consulting companies so you can collab with them
- Offer them fresh content that fits their readers.
- Add 1–2 backlinks to your own blog.
A Doo Digital Example: We could guest blog for a website creative agency about “branding in design trends for 2025”, linking back to our guide on “best agency sites.”
Step 5: (Very important) Make Blogs Shareable
This one step is vastly overlooked, remember you do want to drive traffic to your website, but don’t fall for a famous bad practice: Writing a post just full of buzzwords or click bait, or even worse, writing Chat GPT blogs, AI will encapsulate the idea you want to share but this lacks authenticity and could lead to people losing credibility in your brand and your content, writing a blog that both drives traffic to your website while being a relevant topic might take longer and will require more effort but trust me, pays off. People share content that’s clear, fun, and useful.
Key terms, you must know:
- CTA visuals: Graphics (infographics, charts, memes) that make your post more clickable.
- Alt text: Descriptions for images that help SEO and accessibility. You add this when uploading images in WordPress.
Key recommendations:
- Add lists, checklists, or visuals that make your blog easier to read
- Use headings (H1, H2, H3) so it’s easy to scan.
A Doo Digital Example: On our blog about “top logo design sites”, we’d create a Canva checklist graphic called “5 Quick Wins for Blog Traffic” , and readers can download it for free.
Step 6: Paid Ads (A little shortcut lane)
This might be a part of a second stage growth strategy for a beginner’s blog but sometimes, you gotta put a little $$ behind your blog to get to the right audience, especially if your brand / concept is very niche or simply because you want to speed up the process. Fair enough! Just remember to research and study properly on how to use the most famous ways to advertise, for example: Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads Manager, X Ads, Meta Ads, etc. Every platform is different and should be approached accordingly, using the proper assets from a solid keywords research to the right size and formats of the ads, otherwise this could lead to burning money for little to no results, you’ll end up frustrated and with no traffic.
Key Recommendations:
- Google Ads: If you are a web and branding agency like us, for example: Target keywords like “need website” or “best creative agency.”
- Instagram Ads: Promote a Reel with a link to your blog.
A Doo Digital Example: We’d run an Instagram ad for our blog on “best logo design website”, targeting small business owners searching for “logo designer near me.”
Step 7: Consistency equals Winning
Be patient, I know this might be a lot to ask from some, don’t ask me how I know lol but let me be clear, traffic doesn’t happen in a day. It’s a compound interest kind of thing, so the more you invest in quality content, the better.
Key Recommendations:
- Post weekly.
- Update old blogs with fresh info.
- Repurpose blog content into email + social.
A Doo Digital Example: We’d take our blog “top logo design companies”, update it every 6 months, and share it on LinkedIn again, always driving new traffic.
We’ve put together a table with the best CMS for SEO so you can pick the one that suits your blog better.
Bonus: Best CMS for SEO (Beginner-Friendly)
| CMS | SEO Strengths | Best For |
| WordPress.org | Plugins like Yoast, total SEO control, customizable slugs/titles/meta. | Bloggers who want growth & full control. |

| Webflow | SEO fields + super clean code, great for speed. | Design-savvy creators. |
